BioShot J2ME (old version)

BioShot J2ME has been discontinued.

You can download the old version here: Bioshot J2ME. Remember, this version IS NOT SIGNED.

General Information
BioShot is a game developed for mobile phones that use Java 3D. Please note that there are at least two versions of Java 3D: Java 3D for desktops, which uses the standard Java platform J2SE, and the J2ME/M3G version. The latter is the version used by BioShot.
BioShot can also be run on a mobile device emulator running on PCs. For more information visit Getting Started with the Mobile 3D Graphics.

Minimum requirements
To run, BioShot needs a mobile device that can run Java J2ME and has the following specifications for that platform:

  • (CLDC) 1.1
  • MIDP 2.1
  • Mobile 3D Graphics API for J2ME™ 1.1 (M3G API)

In addition to these specifications, the mobile device must be able to download and install JAR files of up to 1MB.
If the device does not have any of these requirements the game will not run and an error message will be displayed.

Performance
BioShot runs on various mobile devices, but the performance will depend solely on the processing power of the CPU and, when available, the device’s graphics acceleration chips.
In general, the minimum acceptable performance of a game for a mobile device is the one where the screen refresh rate of is not less than about 10 screens per second.
BioShot was tested on numerous devices and showed satisfactory performance in a large number of them. However, for devices with a screen resolution larger than 240 x 320 pixels or 320 x 240 the overall performance was unsatisfactory.
To learn if BioShot is compatible with your device and also presents minimum performance, see the list of devices tested at the end of this page. Note that even if your device is not listed, BioShot can still perform satisfactorily on your device.
Adtgames has carried out continuous tests in an effort to keep the list of compatible devices up-to-date.

Installation
To install BioShot please visit the Nokia site and follow the download instructions. After downloading, follow the additional instructions on your mobile device.

Playing
BioShot uses the keys of a mobile device with the following functions

•    2 or navigation key UP (top): forward
•    8 or DOWN navigation key (bottom): retreat
•    4 or LEFT navigation key (left): turn left
•    6 or RIGHT navigation key (right): turn right
•    5 or FIRE (selection): shoot gun
•    7: enter/exit vehicle
•    9: menu

At the beginning of each level, the game shows instructions to be followed by the player. As the player progresses, new instructions/tips can be made by game characters.

Known issues
Some devices do not completely release the memory resources used after a level is completed, causing memory failure error that ends the game. This problem occurs on some models that have a maximum internal memory of 1Mb for Java applications and which also have a screen resolution of 240 x 320 or higher. In these cases, the game can be restarted normally from the next level.

FAQ

How do I know if my device will run the game?
See the list of tested devices. If the device is not listed, see the manufacturer’s specifications to see if it meets the minimum requirements.

The game runs very slowly. What should I do?
Old mobile devices or those that have a screen resolution of more than 240 x 320 pixels generally do not have a CPU with enough performance to run the game at a satisfying speed. Try another device.

The game does not install. What should I do?
Check that the download was made as per the instructions on the site and if the device’s instructions have also been followed. If not, please download again and follow the instructions on the site and of the device.
If the download and installation instructions were followed correctly, check for error message regarding the minimum requirements. If this is the case, the game needs to be installed on another device.
In any other case, the game is probably not compatible with your device.
